Assiniboine River Level Advisory (Update: Feb. 1/10)
Manitoba Water Stewardship has issued the following river level advisory
for the Assiniboine River. As a response to the snowstorm on the weekend of
January 23-25, the outflow from the Shellmouth Reservoir
was increased from 300 cfs to 600 cfs. As a result, the
river level is expected to rise about 0.6 feet at Brandon and 0.4 feet from PTH 34 to
Headingley. This effect will reach Brandon by Feb. 3-4, Portage la Prairie
by Feb. 6-7 and Winnipeg by Feb. 9-10. Little or no ice action is expected,
but it is possible that the additional flow may cause cracks in the ice,
allowing water to emerge and to form slush above the ice in some areas. Further operation of the Shellmouth Dam will depend on
precipitation amounts during the next few months. .
Water Utility Annual Report
The municipality is required to prepare and annual report on its water utility. The report for 2008 is attached. Our water is provided by the Cartier Regional Water Co-op Inc. (CRWCI). Their reports for 2007 and 2008 are available for your information.
2010 Budget
Council is currently in the process of developing the 2010 annual budget.

Emergency Preparedness
The Emergency Management Board of the Rural Municipalities of Headingley, St. Francois Xavier and Cartier are canvassing for volunteers to take on positions within the Municipal Emergency Plan. Click here for more information.
White Horse Plains Planning District (Updated Jan. 22/10)
The development plan has been submitted to the Minister for Provincial approval and the Planning District Board is currently working on a new zoning by-law.
